Before they left, they advised the following:
On Friday Elissa & I head for the airport to catch a business class trip to Dubai on the 380 (sounds good doesn?t it)..what really happens is we wait around and if there is any room in business left over ..we get it No room left they offer us a seat in economy..no room there..we go to cheap hotel around Mascot and try to catch a 777 in the morning....all planes look full so it?s a lucky dip.
On the too much information department..we are going to a wedding for an old teaching mate of mine from Galston High where I worked from 1977 til 1988. He is 54 and this is his first marriage .The wedding will be held at Rochester Cathedral, the second oldest Cathedral in England .It was established in 604AD by Bishop Justice ( I knew you wanted to know that) there are 100 people going to the wedding ... 86 pommes and 14 aussies..so I hope we fit in a few ?no worries Digger? and? stone the crows? might go down all right but then again it mightn?t.
After that we catch a bus to Scotland.. have 4 or 5 days in Edinburgh and then get a car and have look around the Scottish Highlands for 7 or 8 days and end up back in Glasgow where Elissa has arranged for us to go to some pubs and listen to some old fashion rock ?n? roll and blues ...I sincerely hope we don’t get our heads punched in but Elissa is cool.
After that a side trip to France for a couple of days and then back home via Dubai..so now you know.
I have forwarded a couple of comments in the past and again just now.... but somehow my comments don't get through... suddenly vanish into cyber space!
ReplyDeleteI just hoped that David and Elissa manage to get their 380 or 777 plane in time to make the wedding. Fancy an old mate of his getting married after being single for 54 years .... must be a story to explain why so long. Actually my aunty now 94 years old had a courtship which lasted that long before she married her boyfriend in her 70's. They wanted to go overseas but it wouldn't look proper if they were single!
I must offer my apologies if the Brisbane Chapter are celebrating the Swiss National Day come horses' birthday this year. I will be travelling to Canada and the USA next Tuesday and won't be back till August 6
.
Best wishes to all

Ahhhhhhh! Our 'spy' south of the Murray has reappeared. Seems that Canada and the USA are the fashion for the months of July/August.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip. Hopefully some of your highlights will appear on this blog?
Yes, Bill, I have my red and white attire all ready for the BIG day for the Swiss and the horses!
Cheers

The mind boggles...!!!! Are the Pommies ready for Dave?? I am sure that Elissa would have no trouble blending with the surrounds but Dave is just as likely to head on down to "Buck Palace" to have a "red" with Betty and Phil.
ReplyDeleteI hope he appreciates the history of "Rochester Cathedral".
I can imagine him in the Pubs in Glasgow...up on a table doing the "jive" and the "twist" and trying to come to terms with an accent that is not unlike a foreign language. Have a couple of more "reds" Dave...it will be easier to understand.
Rod ole mate - can you really imagine the Mountbatten-Windsors having a "red" with Dubbo Dave - it is not a mind "boggle" - its a double dose of "mind boggling". Even the Royal corgies might do a double take!
ReplyDeleteNow as for being up and jiving on Glasgow hotel tables, that is MOST possible - kilt or no kilt!
As for who understands who - "Glasgowites" or "Dubboites", should result in a delightful dialogue. Sign language might be more appropriate? However, it may be that Kesby is really MacKesby!!!!
Cheers
